I am in love with Vietnamese food and have always thought of learning how to cook the Vietnamese cuisine. Frog and I had signed up for the Vietnamese culinary course (1/2 day Gourmet Tour) with Saigon Cooking Class since we are at Ho Chi Minh for a short holiday trip last month.
As early as 8am in the morning, we had gathered at the west gate of Ben Thanh market to get the ingredients for the class together with the chef. The chef had introduced us the ingredients that we are using and a quick tour around the famous market in Ho Chi Minh.
After getting the ingredients, we headed back to the cooking school via a cab and started our cooking class shortly.
We had learnt a total of 3 Vietnamese cuisines (Fresh spring rolls, Green mango and ‘crab herbs’ salad with char-grilled chicken and Lotus fried rice in lotus leaf) using traditional Vietnamese kitchen tools and after the cooking class; we had gotten the chance to try out the food that we had cooked. The school has different menu each day for teaching the students.
At the end of the class, the chef had presented each of us a recipe booklet of what we had learnt for us to bring back home. There is also complimentry dessert for all students to try after the meals. The cooking class is fun and easy to follow. Most importantly,we got the chance to hands on and try cooking the food.
I will definitely try out the wrapped spring roll soon. Here are the pictures that we had taken with the Chef who had taught us the Vietnamese dishes.
