DESSERT FIRST – LIANG SEAH STREET

The weather has been so hot and humid and I had sudden craving for cold cooling desserts. Today shall be my dessert day! Walking along the stretch in 8 Liang Seah Street (Across the road opposite Bugis Mos Burger), you will find a number of restaurants selling desserts. Thus which shop should I patronise?  I had remembered one of my best gal friends had recommended me to try the newly open dessert shop known as Dessert First. Since Frog and I are around the area, we had decided to pop by Dessert First and try out the dessert.

DESSERT FIRST

Looking through the menu, there are a wide variety of desserts to choose from. From snowflakes, shaved ice, doubled boiled dessert, homemade waffle, to even homemade bean curd. The shop even sells dim sum too. We had a hard time deciding what to order as all the dessert look so delicious and yummy. Finally At last, these are the desserts that we had ordered.

Bean curd in the wooden barrel
S4.50
Silky & smooth bean curd

We are amazed by how the homemade bean curd (serving for 2 person) is being contained in the wooden barrel. This is the first time that I have seen such a unique way of serving the bean curd. The home made bean curd comes separately with the sugar syrup and a bowl of orange sugar. I like this concept of serving the bean curd as I get a feel of scooping the bean curd from the barrel and adjust the sweetness according to my own preference. The texture of the bean curd is so smooth and silky and I am totally in love with it. It goes well with the orange sugar that I had sprinkled a little on the top of the bean curd. Smooth bean curd with a little of crunchy bits of the unmelted sugar, the combination is great! I guess I can have that barrel of bean curd all by myself as it taste so good and bean curd is low in fat, high in calcium and good for the skin. You can enjoy delicious desserts without worry putting on weight.

Taiwan Aiyu Jelly in Fresh Young coconut
$4.50

A very refreshing and thirst quenching dessert. You can even see real coconut flesh in it and the jelly is so crunchy and fresh! This dessert is a must to cool us down on such a hot lovely day.

Homemade Waffle + Ice cream + Durian Topping
$5.00

This is a MUST try dessert for durian lover! Real durian flesh being sandwich between the waffle and the ice-cream and this combination compliment very well. The owner of the Dessert First give quite generous amount of durian topping and the waffle taste crispy and fresh too.  The overall taste is perfect. Waffle soak in durian topping and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream topple with some almond flakes at the top of the ice cream. I can still remember how it tastes like when I am blogging on this. I am feeling so hungry now. Argh…

I had never regret coming to Dessert First for my dessert and will definitely come back here again with my friends to try other choices of dessert! The ambience is also quite cosy for a quick dessert gathering and of course not forgetting the quality of the delicious dessert served.

The shop does not charge GST and service charge and the dessert is really worth the money. I can’t emphasise how delicious the desserts are and if you happen to crave for desserts or if you are at Liang Seah Street or Bugis, do pop by Dessert First to try their dessert. You will not regret!

Oh yes before I end this post, below are some recommended desserts that you will like to try if you are at Dessert First.
