KOI BUBBLE TEA CRAZE

The bubble tea craze is back in Singapore. Well especially for the shop KOI. Everyone seems to be queuing for KOI bubble tea. Is their bubble tea really that fantastic? I and frog had walk pass their new Illuma (Bugis) outlet a few time and the queue for ordering the bubble tea is always very long. We had tried to queue up for once but give up in the end. I told myself that I must try it to know what attract so many people to queue for their tea.

Yesh! Finally today we got ourselves KOI bubble milk tea from Illuma. I had searched from the internet that their opening hours is from 10.30am to 10.30pm. To beat the crowd, I and frog went down to Illuma about 11 plus am to queue for the bubble tea. I told myself that I must try it this time no matter what. From the picture I had taken, I guess from their opening hours till 11 plus am; they had already served 70 customers. Our number is ‘HUAT’’HUAT’ (88). We waited for a quite while.

Waiting waiting and waiting….

Our long waited KOI Bubble Milk Tea

I had ordered Hazelnut milk tea with pearls and frog had ordered coconut jelly milk tea. KOI bubble tea is special as they allow us to choose the % of sugar level in the tea. We opt for 70% sweetness. They had 100%, 70%, 50%, 25% and 0%.

Quite different from other milk tea that I had tasted. However, the pearl tastes like the usual chewy pearl.  I will rather drink the milk tea without the pearl in future. Overall, i love the taste of the milktea and i wont mind to queue for it if it is not that long.

So  that i got to try the KOI bublble tea! Slurp slurp.

Thanks frog for queing with me too! Be early to avoid crowd.

MA MAISON – BUGIS JUNCTION

Really falling in love with the food @ Ma Maison. This is my 2nd visit to this Japanese Western Resturant located at the level 2 of Parco Bugis Junction. Order the same thing from my first visit. I love the fried pork cutlet with cabbage and potatoe salad.  I had eaten pork cutlet that is so overcook that the meat is so hard and it is very diffcult to chew them. However, the fried pork cutlet @ Ma Maison is very tender and it is not hard at all.  I love the thickness of the pork cutlet. So thick and yummy delicious! Pictures means more than words

Seafood Spainish Rice.. The rice is so tasty and delicious. I really love this dish. Yummy..

Will go Ma Maison again and this time round to try their other dishes in the menue. They had opened a new outlet @ PARCO MW and the ambience of the place there is great! Have a great weekend ahead `~~~ :)

OLD FASHIONED BANANA CAKE

From my previous blog post, you can see that this is my first attempt in baking a ‘full’cake instead of muffins. I got the banana cake recipe from the July issue Food and Travel Magazine. A very simple and clear illustration of baking the banana cake.

Here are the ingredients for the banana cake:

3-4 ripe medium-size bananas, mashed

150g butter

2 Tbsp olive oil

150g caster sugar

4 Tbsp warm milk

2 eggs, beaten

1 tsp vanilla extract

240g plain flour

1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

½ tsp baking powder

Pinch of salt

Methods:

  1. Preheat the oven to 170˚C. Butter and flour the baking tin.
  2. Mash the bananas, leaving some bite size chunks. It should not be too soggy. Set aside.
  3. Beat butter, olive and sugar together in a mixing bowl, at medium speed till pale and creamy.
  4. Add eggs gradually, beating well with each addition. Then add mashed bananas, milk and vanilla extract. Beat well to combine.
  5. Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder and salt together.
  6. Add half of the flour mixture into the creamed mixture and gently fold in with a spatula. Add the remaining half and gently fold in until all the flour is incorporated.
  7. Gently pour the contents into the floured baking tin and bake for 17 – 20 mins or until the skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean.

YUMMY DINNER BY FROG

Frog new dish for our dinner. Couscous with peas, carrots, zucchini, onions, celery and potatoes. A very healthy meal for the dinner. What is couscous? Couscous is a small granular type of pasta made by sprinkling durum or hard wheat semolina grains with cold salted water and rolling and coating them in fine wheat flour. It is an ingredient in North Africa. Cooked couscous can be eaten hot or cold, either as a main dish or as an accompaniment. Couscous goes well too with stew vegetables or chicken. The grains are much smaller than rice but it is as filling as rice too. We bought the coucous @ jason market place. Cold storage do sell them too.

The ingredients

A very colourful combination. Really brighten up my days!

Frog added Ma Ling Green Peas which is my favourite too! Yummy! He use the olive oil to cook the vegetables. A healthier way of cooking the food.

Our dinner for the night! So healthy and filling!

We had microwave some chicken drumlets to go along with the couscous too. I really love microwave as you can cook food without using the oil and most importantly it wont keep the kitchen in a mess!

Frying = kitchen oily n messy…

Thank you frog for such a sumptous dinner! So green, colourful,  healthy and easy to prepare meal!
